Our history

Who we are

We (SAPPROS –Nepal) are a national level, non-governmental organization (NGO). Established in 1991, we are an organization committed to achieve long-term, sustainable changes in the lives of the most marginalized, deprived and vulnerable communities in Nepal. We have a long history of building resilience by promoting economic inclusion and empowerment for increased income and employment opportunities for individiuals. Our interventions place people at the center of development, promoting a holistic approach to wellbeing based on a deep understanding of how people interact with the institutions and systems that impact theirlives.

We have successfully implemented more development activities in 52 districts of Nepal in the past 32 years, and have reached more than 574,000 households through more than 150 projects.

The mission of SAPPROS is to reduce poverty in Nepal by assisting rural women, marginalized groups and vulnerable communities through mobilizing of local livelihood capitals and resources, reducing disaster risks and building innovative technology based productive infrastructures, and promoting meaningful participation and leadership of women, marginalized and vulnerable in planning and decision making at all levels.

Goal

As guided by right to information, SAPPROS’s interventions and program details are transparent among the stakeholders/people and effective community feedback mechanisms and intra-institution feedback systems is established.
