Janak Pokhrel holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, both from Kathmandu University. With over six years of experience in the research sector, he has contributed significantly to research on topics such as federalism, governance, and social inclusion.
Currently a freelance researcher, Janak engages in diverse studies ranging from health governance to migration. His portfolio includes conducting feasibility studies for NGOs, investigating out-of-country voting perceptions, and researching health systems in remote areas, among others. He is also currently a visiting faculty member at National College, affiliated to KU, teaching undergraduate students the ‘Concepts and Theories of Development’ subject. Previously, he has worked with several NGOs, INGOs, and a Member of Parliament. His most notable work comes from having served as a Research Officer at Policy Entrepreneurs Inc., where he focused on sub-national governance and political-economic analysis under the Research and Evidence on Nepal’s Transition (RENT) project, producing research products like policy briefs and case studies.
