About Youth in Federal Discourse (YFD):

Youth in Federal Discourse (YFD) is a youth-led, non-governmental organization established in 2019 with a focus on engaging youth in the understanding of federalism and related components of governance. YFD firmly believes that youth are catalysts for change, continuously striving to unlock their potential in addressing policy challenges and bridging gaps in government actions.

Position Overview:

YFD is seeking a qualified and experienced Finance and Administration Officer to manage the organization’s financial and administrative processes. This is a fixed-term contract position for six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs. The Finance and Administration Officer will be responsible for ensuring smooth financial operations, compliance with internal policies, and maintaining effective administrative support for the organization’s programs.

Key Responsibilities:

-Manage the day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, financial reporting, and maintaining records of expenses and income.

-Ensure financial compliance with YFD’s policies, donor requirements, and applicable local regulations.

-Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and track budget expenditures.

-Prepare financial reports for internal review and donor submissions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

-Coordinate with the Program Manager to ensure that project budgets are adhered to and resources are efficiently allocated.

-Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, petty cash, and other financial records.

-Manage procurement processes, including maintaining records of purchases and contracts.

-Supervise administrative processes, including office supplies, equipment management, and administrative support for staff.

-Maintain organized financial and administrative records for easy retrieval and auditing purposes.

-Prepare documents for audits and liaise with external auditors when necessary.

-Provide regular updates to the Program Manager on financial and administrative status.

-Support the organization’s staff with HR-related tasks, including maintaining records and handling payroll processing.

-Ensure timely coordination of logistics for events and meetings, including travel arrangements and venue bookings.

-Perform other duties as required by the Program Manager.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

At least 2 years of experience in finance and administration, preferably within the NGO or development sector.

Strong understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and budget monitoring.

Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Nepali.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Knowledge & Skills:

Strong understanding of financial policies, procedures, and regulations.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Work Conditions:

Full-time, Monday to Friday. Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines.

Occasional travel outside the Kathmandu Valley.

Salary Range:

NPR 30,000 to NPR 40,000 (Gross Salary)
